Caunes-Minervois itself is a 25km drive from Carcassonne in the department of Aude, now part of the Occitanie Region in Southen France. Caunes-Minervois is only 45mins from the Mediterranean coast at Narbonne and just under 2 hours drive from the Pyrenees Mountains and the Spanish border.
Caunes is can be easily reached from several airports and the department is served by two major autoroutes and a high speed trainline which serves Carcassonne. Transfers between Carcassonne and Caunes-Minervois can be arranged if you are holidaying without a car.
Caunes-Minervois is about twelve hours driving time from English Channel ports and seven to eight hours driving time from Paris. It can be reached via Autoroute 61 (A61) which runs between Toulouse and Narbonne.
There are international airports at Toulouse and Montpellier. Ryanair have flights from nearby Carcassonne to a number of UK and other European airports. Ryanair also fly to Montpellier, Perpignan and Beziers. Routes with low cost airlines change from time to time but, in general, it is also worth checking out Easyjet and Flybe to local airports. Car hire is straightforward at all these airports, but do book in advance.
